MASTER OF ARTS IN INTERCULTURAL STUDIES

 

Purpose

The online Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies is a research programme that seeks to advance scholarship in the theological context related to the field of missions. Students acquire an in-depth understanding of the literature, themes, and contemporary issues related to missions, culture, and religions. This interdisciplinary study focuses on theological, historical, anthropological, and evangelical approaches to the research and practices of missions.

Objectives

By the end of the programme of study, students should be able to:

i. Develop a personalised theology and model for effective intercultural ministry;

ii. Study with critical minds diverse cultural assumptions and values and how they affect the effectiveness of intercultural communication of the gospel;

iii. Understand and interpret correctly biblical truths through the lenses of specific cultural worldviews;

iv. Demonstrate analytical skills in conducting research in the field of intercultural studies.

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY IN INTERCULTURAL STUDIES

Purpose

The Online Ph.D. Intercultural Studies is a research programme that enhances Christian leaders/ministers’ study and ministerial competencies in various forms of ministry across cultures. The goal is to broaden the understanding of students concerning various forms of human diversities and the dynamics of effective ministry in such contexts.

Objectives

By the end of the module, students should be able to:

i. Engage the principles of multicultural leadership in specific ministry endeavours across cultures;

ii. Demonstrate expertise in the knowledge of issues and themes related to Christian missions in a culturally diverse context;

iii. Disseminate profound knowledge of intercultural studies through teaching in higher institutions of learning;

iv. Highlight and analyse the dynamics of cross-cultural missions and leadership in the contemporary church;

v. Engage insights from anthropology for a thorough and objective ethnographic research to enhance the task of Christian missions across cultures.
