The Vice President Ministerial, Prof. John O. Enyinnaya and the Global Mission Board Director, Dr Femi Adewumi, engaged with undergraduate and postgraduate students in Missiology as well as lecturers at The Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso, on the 6th of March 2025. Such a forum was previously held in September 2023 with Missiology students at the PhD level conveyed by Prof. Matthews A. Ojo. Again, this 2025 edition was an opportunity for extensive dialogue with emerging missionaries and missiologists on issues and dynamics of Nigerian Baptist Convention missions related to policy, strategy, personnel, and funding within ever-changing contexts.
The seminary students gained firsthand information, valuable insights, and clarity from Convention leadership and Prof Ojo, who was present. Subtle but recurring throughout the discussion was a call to “faithfulness to the Great Commission.” By the end of the meeting, the students were stirred and challenged to act; hence, as a first step, they pledged to contribute annually to the GMB, among other things—which had already begun. Also, continuity was encouraged, so it was resolved that a forum between the Department of Intercultural Studies of NBTS and Convention leadership directly involved in missions should be held annually or every two years as it would contribute to bridging the gap between mission theory and praxis.
