ADVANCEMENT VOLUNTEERS CELEBRATE AND SEND FORTH THEIR OWN

Perhaps you will recall the article titled ‘Soldier Go, Soldier Come’ on August 28, 2025 somewhere at the beginning of the 2025/26 Academic Session. Well, this is a similar post – and perhaps the ‘other side of the coin’ of that news. As we welcome new hands annually, we also send forth those going to the field for service. The Advancement office of the Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary (NBTS) Ogbomoso has enjoyed volunteer services of students year in year out since September, 2023. This academic session was no exception.

Since the involvement of pioneer volunteers like Pastors Gamaliel Akinsola and Debo Odunlami, there have been others who have come and gone. This year, the Advancement Volunteers are grateful to God for four among us who have served meritoriously in the team – some from their first year in school and others as they continued in study.  The four final year members of the team are Pastors Samuel Adewale, Joseph Taiwo Amoo, Oluwatobi Gabriel Blessing and Victor Gbadegesin.

The Advancement Volunteer Team had a mini send-forth for them in the Multipurpose Hall after the Multistaff Ministry Conference on May 21, 2026. There was fellowship, sharing, prayers, a charge by Prof. Olusola Ayo-Obiremi, the Deputy President Advancement, and special prayers for the graduating friends. Taking her text from 2 Timothy 2: 1 – 7, Prof. Ayo-Obiremi emphasized the need to live up to the expectation of their calling in word, dressing, relationships with people, speech and in all that they do. She encouraged all present to reflect on the passage again on getting home, and to practice the things learned in theory and in practice; not getting entangled in ‘civilian affairs’ such as insisting on ‘rights’, joining the multitude in action and so many other things.

The Advancement Team will miss these brothers, but we know that by God’s grace, they will continue to be His instruments in the wider field of ministry. Go well, brothers! God be with you till we meet again!
