The Book Launch event of the Faculty of Education was a notable event that served as the culmination of the 60th-anniversary celebration of Education specialization in NBTS which held in October 2022. It took place during the afternoon session of Wednesday, September 13, 2023; the 3rd day of the 2023 Ministers’ Conference which was presided over by Rev. Dr Olusola Ayo-Obiremi, the Deputy President Advancement of the Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomoso. The event drew special guests in addition to those on ground for the Ministers’ Conference. Clad in their chosen anniversary Ankara wear, Alumni, Faculty, and students of the Faculty of Education looked beautiful and ready for a glorious culmination of the anniversary.
The 472-page book with 11 chapters, titled Footprints: The History of the Faculty of Education, Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary was compiled by the History Committee of the Faculty. Rev. Dr. Jerry Akinsola, an alumnus of the Faculty, reviewed the book. He passed compliments on several aspects of the book including the meticulousness of the history book committee in making use of records; the unique cover design and its reader-friendly nature. He highlighted the book’s comprehensive coverage of history as it showcased the amazing growth of the Faculty, which began as a small seed sown several years ago. He creatively related the number of pages with the Yoruba hymn number 472 which in English is ‘Now Thank We All Our God’. He led the congregation in singing the first stanza before handing over the microphone to the Master of Ceremony.
The Senior Pastor of Molete Baptist Church, Ibadan, Rev. Dr Edward K Alabi coordinated the launching. Rev. Mayokun Ayopo, who stood in for the Chief Launcher of the book, also commended the great work of historical documentation. Notable people like Rev Dr Gwana, Rev Dr. R.A Lateju, Rev. Dr. Foluke Ola, Rev Dr. Michael Ayo-Obiremi, Rev Dr. Olu Aibinuomo, and Rev Prof. Simon Ishola, were some of the fantastic people who launched the book.
Several of the launchers showed gratitude for the book, as they expressed their appreciation for its contents and message. The book is indeed a historical book and a milestone that everyone must keep for record purposes. The event ended gloriously with several people making their financial commitment and contributions. The Dean of the Faculty, Rev. Dr. Ruth M. Oyeniyi appreciated everyone for their participation and involvement in the landmark event.
